Below are some common classification dimensions along with their respective applications:

 

1. **Classification by Use**:
- **Printing Paper**: Specifically designed for printing purposes, including newsprint and offset paper.
- **Office Copy Paper**: Suitable for a wide range of printers and copiers, such as inkjet and laser printing paper.
- **Drawing Paper**: Designed for artistic purposes, characterized by high whiteness and smoothness, such as sketch paper and watercolor paper.
- **Household Paper**: Used in daily life, including toilet paper and kitchen paper.

 

2. **Classification by Production Process**:
- **Uncoated Paper**: Not treated with surface coatings, such as handmade paper and newsprint.
- **Coated Paper**: Treated with surface coatings to enhance surface properties, such as coated paper and inkjet printing paper.

 

3. **Classification by Material**:
- **Traditional Plant Fiber Paper**: Made from plant fibers, such as wood pulp paper and bamboo pulp paper.
- **PVC Paper and PP Paper**: Made from plastic materials, offering waterproof and durable characteristics.

- **Offset Printing Paper**: Regulated by GB/T 30130 standards in China, commonly used for printing various products. Its surface may not be perfectly smooth but meets most printing requirements. "Daolin paper" is a type of offset printing paper; when double-sided offset printing is performed, it is referred to as "double-offset paper."
- **Coated Paper**: Regulated by GB/T 10335 standards in China, suitable for both printing and writing. This paper is particularly well-suited for laser printing but less so for inkjet printing.
- **Coated Art Printing Paper**: Often referred to as "coated paper" or "powder paper," this is the highest-quality coated paper type, ideal for printing magazines, posters, and other high-quality graphic works.
- **Light Coated Paper**: Lightweight yet of excellent quality, often used for high-quality graphic works, such as IKEA product brochures and advertising prints.
- **Dictionary Paper**: Also known as Bible Paper, regulated by GB/T 1912 standards, characterized by thinness and opacity, making it ideal for printing high-quality texts like dictionaries and encyclopedias.
- **White Card Paper**: Regulated by GB/T 22806 standards, often used for business cards, packaging, and invitations due to its white and rigid texture.
- **Specialty Papers**: Includes embossing paper, ground drawing paper, and stamp paper, which occupy unique niches in the printing and production industries due to their specialized properties and uses.

 

5. **Office Paper**:
Office paper encompasses a variety of types, including writing paper, copy paper, and drawing paper, playing an essential role in supporting daily office tasks such as writing, copying, and drawing.
- **Writing Paper**: Regulated by GB/T 12654 standards, designed for stationery like exercise books and notepads. Key features include appropriate sizing to prevent ink diffusion and ensure clear writing.
- **Typewriting Paper**: Regulated by GB/T 8938 standards, specifically designed for dot matrix printers. Commonly used for printing important documents like invoices, it offers high durability and clarity.
- **Design Paper**: Regulated by GB/T 1525 standards, created for drawing purposes. It excels in folding resistance and tensile strength while meeting the precision and clarity requirements of cartographic work.
- **Tracing Paper**: Regulated by GB/T 1468 standards, also known as "sulfate paper," a translucent paper type.
- **Xuan Paper**: Regulated by GB/T 18739 standards, with geographical indication product standards.
- **Drawing Paper**: Regulated by GB/T 22833 standards, specially designed for pencil drawing.
- **Watercolor Paper**: Regulated by GB/T 22830 standards, specially designed for watercolor painting.
- **Carbon Paper**: Also known as blue printing paper, named for its tendency to stain hands blue during use. This type of paper has largely been phased out.
- **Carbonless Copy Paper**: Regulated by GB/T 16797 standards, an improvement over traditional carbon paper, eliminating the issue of staining hands.
- **Dry Copy Paper**: Also known as Xerographic Paper, widely used in offices for electrostatic printing and copying. Regulated by GB/T 24988 standards, it requires strict flatness, stiffness, tightness, and electrostatic characteristics.
- **Diazo Sensitized Paper**: Also known as Blueprint Paper, increasingly being digitized. Historically used in architectural design through chemical reactions to produce blue images, its usage has declined with technological advancements.
- **Inkjet Printing Paper**: Regulated by GB/T 21301 standards, designed for inkjet technology. Requires special coatings on base paper, with optional additional coating or pigment layers. RC inkjet printing paper, such as RC photo paper, features PE resin layers for enhanced waterproof performance but is unsuitable for laser printing.

 

6. **Non-Plant Fiber Paper**:
- **PVC Paper**: Designed for laser printing, unsuitable for inkjet printing.
- **PP Paper**: Also known as synthetic paper, offering superior printing scratch resistance, suitable for laser printing but unsuitable for inkjet printing.
