In printing and office environments, paper dimensions play a pivotal role in determining suitability for various applications. The A, B, C, and K series represent standardized formats widely adopted globally, each serving distinct functional purposes.

The A series conforms to ISO 216 and is characterized by an aspect ratio of 1:√2, allowing seamless halving into subsequent sizes while preserving proportions. Each successive size has half the area of the preceding one. Specific dimensions include:
A0: 841 mm × 1189 mm – used for large posters and displays.
A1: 594 mm × 841 mm – derived from A0, suitable for reports and large-format tables.
A2: 420 mm × 594 mm – ideal for handouts and exercise books.
A3: 297 mm × 420 mm – commonly used for presentations and technical drawings.
A4: 210 mm × 297 mm – the most prevalent size for documents, letters, and resumes.
Smaller variants (e.g., A5, A6) serve niche uses such as greeting cards, brochures, labels, sticky notes, and business cards.

The B series shares the same aspect ratio principle but begins with a width of √2 meters (~1.414 m), yielding B0 at 1414 mm × 1000 mm. While also produced through sequential halving, B-series dimensions do not align exactly with A-series equivalents. Common applications include oversized prints and envelopes (e.g., B4, B5, B6), as well as book production (e.g., B5 format).

The C series is specifically designed for envelope manufacturing. Its dimensions are engineered to accommodate corresponding A-series sheets-for example, a C5 envelope (162 mm × 229 mm) fits an A5 sheet folded from A4. This interoperability ensures compatibility across document and mailing systems.

The K series refers to traditional Chinese paper formats, categorized into standard and large sizes. Standard full-sheet measures 787 mm × 1092 mm, commonly used for books and periodicals. Large format measures 880 mm × 1230 mm, preferred for expansive layouts such as posters and brochures. Through precise cutting and folding, various book sizes can be derived to meet diverse printing needs.

Understanding the specifications of A, B, C, and K series facilitates informed selection in both professional and everyday contexts, enhancing workflow efficiency and output quality across applications ranging from large-scale graphics to compact stationery items.
