Aramid paper is a specialized type of advanced material derived from aramid fibers, which are synthetic fibers with exceptional properties. There are two primary types of aramid fibers: meta-aramid (also known as aramid 1313) and para-aramid (also known as aramid 1414). While their molecular structures exhibit similarities, their characteristics and applications differ significantly.
Meta-aramid demonstrates remarkable resistance to high temperatures, fire, electricity, acids, alkalis, and radiation. Consequently, it finds extensive use in safety protection, high-temperature filtration, electrical insulation, and structural materials. Para-aramid, on the other hand, exhibits extraordinary strength and can withstand significant tensile and compressive forces. This makes it ideal for producing high-strength items such as bulletproof vests, brake pads, and sails.
Aramid paper is manufactured using meta-aramid fibers. The process involves blending short fibers and precipitation fibers of meta-aramid, followed by wet papermaking and hot pressing techniques.

It is robust, dimensionally stable, highly resistant to high temperatures and combustion, chemically inert, and exhibits excellent electrical insulation properties. Aramid paper is a remarkable material capable of supporting applications in rocket manufacturing, underscoring its intrinsic value. However, it is not inexpensive. For instance, the cost of an A4-sized sheet of aramid insulating paper is approximately 20 yuan, while its market price reaches up to 2,800 yuan. This highlights its scarcity, technological sophistication, and the market demand and competitive pressures it faces. As consumers, we should adopt a rational perspective toward this new material, avoiding both blind pursuit and unwarranted skepticism.
