The coating used in its production typically has a whiteness exceeding 90%, with extremely fine particles, and undergoes supercalendering to achieve a smoothness level generally ranging from 600 to 1000 seconds. Additionally, the coating is evenly distributed across the paper's surface, resulting in an aesthetically pleasing white color. Key requirements for coated paper include a thin and uniform coating layer, absence of bubbles, and appropriate adhesive content to prevent powder or fiber shedding during printing processes. Furthermore, the para-xylene absorption capacity of coated paper should be appropriately controlled.

Coated paper is one of the primary types of paper utilized in Shenzhen printing factories. Its formal name is "coated printing paper," and it is widely applied in various real-life scenarios. Examples include wall calendars, posters sold in bookstores, book covers, illustrations, art books, picture albums, and product manuals for electronic appliances, all of which are predominantly made from coated paper. Classification of Coated Paper:
Coated paper can be categorized into single-sided coated paper, double-sided coated paper, matte coated paper, and fabric-textured coated paper. Based on quality, it is classified into three grades: A, B, and C. The main raw materials for coated paper include coated base paper and coatings. Copperplate base paper must exhibit uniform thickness, low elasticity, high strength, and good water resistance, while the paper surface must remain free of defects such as spots, wrinkles, or holes. The coating consists of high-quality white pigments (e.g., kaolin, barium sulfate), adhesives (e.g., polyvinyl alcohol, casein), and auxiliary additives.
The Composition of Coated Paper:
Coated paper is available in both flat and roll forms. Copperplate base paper is manufactured using bleached chemical wood pulp or a blend of bleached chemical grass pulp on a paper machine. By applying white pigments (such as kaolin, talcum powder, calcium carbonate, titanium dioxide), adhesives (polyvinyl alcohol, casein, modified starch, synthetic latex), and auxiliary materials (gloss agents, hardeners, plasticizers, dispersants, wetting agents, whitening agents, fluorescent brighteners, color conditioners), the paper undergoes uniform coating processing on a coating machine, followed by drying and supercalendering. This results in a uniform and compact structure with high whiteness (over 85%), a smooth surface, high gloss, and a firm, consistent coating.
