White card paper is a type of thick, firm paper with a high basis weight. Historically, there was a proposal to classify paper based on quantification into three categories: paper, cardstock, and cardboard. In the early years, in the Shanghai market, thick white paper with a basis weight of approximately 200g/m² (with a smooth surface, calendered, and relatively high stiffness, also known as thin paperboard) was referred to as heavy-duty paper. In fact, it is a form of cardboard. The most common type of cardboard is uncolored and commonly referred to as white cardboard. If colored, it is classified as colored cardstock according to its color.
The primary uses of white card paper include printing business cards, certificates, invitations, covers, monthly calendars, and postal postcards, among others.
White card paper carries the name "white," so it has a very high whiteness requirement. Grade A should have a whiteness of no less than 92%, Grade B no less than 87%, and Grade C no less than 82%. When the whiteness exceeds 90%, it becomes somewhat "bright and dazzling."
White card paper is also required to possess high stiffness, burst resistance, and smoothness (except for embossed white card paper). The paper surface must be flat, free from defects such as streaks or spots, and without warping or deformation.
The market outlook for white card paper in China is promising. In the past, many foreign-related hotels and joint ventures in our country relied heavily on imported white cardboard. However, the rise of Ningbo Zhonghua Paper Industry has altered the situation where imported paper dominated the Chinese white cardboard market. Ningbo Zhonghua Paper Industry utilizes bleached chemical wood pulp, top-tier processing equipment, and advanced technology. Consequently, the quality of its finished products is exceptionally excellent, rivaling imported products while being significantly more cost-effective.
Coated paper features a bright surface, uniform coating, rapid ink absorption, and excellent printability, making it suitable for fine color printing. General coated paper involves applying a coating to the base paper for the purpose of fine printing, followed by supercalendering.
Double-coated paper is divided into single-sided and double-sided coated varieties. According to the classification standard of the Japanese paper industry, the coating amount on each side is approximately 10g/m² or more. It is one of the most widely used paper types in cultural publishing, advertising design, printing and binding, and industrial and commercial sectors.
