According to the survey data of the China Paper Association, in 2024, there were approximately 2,500 paper and paperboard manufacturing enterprises across the country, with a total production volume of 136.25 million tons, an increase of 5.09% compared to 2023. The consumption was 136.34 million tons, an increase of 3.56% compared with 2023, and the per capita annual consumption was 96.83 kilograms (1.408 billion people). From 2015 to 2024, the average annual growth rate of paper and paperboard production was 2.71%, and that of consumption was 3.11%.

Ii. Completion of economic indicators by paper and paperboard manufacturing enterprises
According to statistics, the operating income of 2,572 papermaking enterprises from January to December 2024 was 829.6 billion yuan. The growth rate of industrial added value was 8.80%. The inventory of finished products was 41.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 5.83%. The total profit was 25.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 2.71%. The total assets amounted to 1,160.8 billion yuan, increasing by 2.45% year-on-year. The asset-liability ratio is 57.78%. The total liabilities were 670.7 billion yuan, increasing by 1.36% year-on-year. Among the 2,572 paper-making enterprises under statistics, 674 were loss-making enterprises, accounting for 26.21%.

Iii. Pulp Production and Consumption Situation
According to the survey data of the China Paper Association, the total pulp production in China in 2024 was 94.54 million tons, an increase of 7.15% compared with 2023. Among them: 26.26 million tons of wood pulp, an increase of 13.58% compared with 2023; The amount of recycled pulp reached 63.18 million tons, an increase of 6.44% compared with 2023. Non-wood pulp was 5.1 million tons, a decrease of 11.30% compared with 2023.
