(1) Pre-production preparations for the book printing

1. Master the printing process requirements for picture albums
(1) Be familiar with the standard samples (specimens). This includes the color condition of the samples, the main features of the images, and the main technical requirements.
(2) Review the printing color sequence. If there are any issues, provide suggestions for modification.
(3) Understand the main performance characteristics of the printing substrate.
(4) Master the main properties of the inks and solvents used.
(5) Layout design, size, positional relationship, registration accuracy and printing pressure requirements.

2. Preparation Check
Inspection of a single printing plate. Check for any damage on each color plate and verify if the plate size meets the requirements.
Check of the printing cylinder. Are the markings on each color printing cylinder clear? Measure the circumference of each printing cylinder to select the cylinder gears.
Check the quality of the bearings. The bearing clearance must be within the specified range. The bearing surface should be clean and lubricated.
Quality inspection of printing materials, inks, additives, etc.

3. Cleaning and Inspection of the Printing Machine
When the printing machine has just finished printing a batch of jobs but has not yet been completely cleaned, the equipment should be inspected and cleaned. The main areas to be checked are as follows:
A. Remove the spool shaft and check for any damage.
B. Clean the ink in the ink tray and the ink roller.
C. Clean the ink pump and the hose.
D. Clean the ink rollers.
E. Clean the plate cylinder and the screen roller.

4. Adjustment of the album printing machine
(1) Adjustment of the parallelism of the first printing unit, main areas:
Plate cylinder and impression cylinder;
Plate cylinder and mesh roller;
Mesh rollers and ink rollers;
Measuring tool: Thickness gauge (0.05mm)
(2) Adjust the registration of the front half of the printing machine's rollers to ensure that the registration lines align and meet the specified requirements.
(3) The front half of the printing machine applies the ink.
(4) Adjust the registration of the rear part of the printing machine.
(5) The rear part of the printing machine applies the ink.
(6) Adjust the working condition of the ink roller to ensure uniform ink supply and that the ink quantity is within the specified range.
(7) Adjust the tension of the paper tape to maintain its stability during the printing process.
Once the above process is completed and everything is normal, you can proceed with the test printing.

(2) Trial Printing
The process of proofing is as follows.
(1) Turn on the machine, position the embossing cylinder in the pressing position, and conduct the first test printing.
(2) Inspect the sample pages. This includes checking the accuracy of registration, the printing position, etc. If any problems are found, further adjustments should be made to ensure that the printing plate cylinder of the album can achieve correct registration both vertically and horizontally.
(3) Start the ink pump, adjust the ink supply volume, and apply the ink to the ink rollers.
(4) Turn on the machine and conduct the second test printing.
(5) Review the second trial print sample pages. The inspection items are as follows:
Color density: When the color density is abnormal, the ink viscosity can be adjusted, or the number of lines on the screen roller can be changed.
Color difference: If the color difference does not meet the requirements, the ink should be replaced.
Other defects: Check and adjust as needed depending on the specific situation.
(6) After printing out the qualified products, a small batch can be printed again for a recheck, and only then can the formal printing proceed.
(7) During the printing process, it is necessary to constantly monitor the registration accuracy, color difference, ink quantity, drying condition, and changes in paper belt tension, so as to make timely adjustments.
